Last week I visited the Turner Prize exhibition which was also at the Tate Britain.
I was really excited about visiting this exhibition as I felt like I was visiting a really important exhibition that was making history in the Art world.
It felt fresh and new to me to see up and coming artists exhibit their work.
The shortlisted artists are: Spartacus Chetwynd, Luke Fowler, Paul Noble and Elizabeth Price.
All of the artists are different, they all create completely contrasting pieces.

Elizabeth Price, born in 1966 creates video installations that contain text, photography, music and moving image. She had been shortlisted for her trilogy of
videos at the Tate.

Paul Noble born in 1963, is a painter and installation artist who explores
society through drawings. His work is very technical and graphical.
Noble is shortlisted for his solo exhibition at Gagosian Gallery in London, which brought together his darkly satirical and painstakingly detailed drawings.
My definite favorite Spartacus Chetwynd, she is a artist that works mostly in costume. I was instantly drawn to her by the way she works in texture and imagination.
In the video of Chetwynd talking about her work she explained her teachers at her Art School told her, her work looked like it was about to fall down. A critic said that Chetwynd’s work is very “ramshackle” which sums up her work completely, its almost like a series of organized mess piled up to create a costume.
This stuck in my head as a great explanation of her work as it all is very fragile but not delicate.
Out of all the Turner Prize nominated artists, Chetwynd stood out to me as my choice to win. However I think that all artists deserve to be there.
